The City of Portland has a “Pay-As-You-Throw” trash collection system. The cost of disposing of trash is covered by the cost of the bags, so you pay only for what you throw away. City trash bags are available at these retail locations in the Greater Portland Area .  Trash will only be collected in the City of Portland purple trash bags.  We strongly suggest obtaining a generic trash container for your trash bags to avoid vermin tearing the bags which would require prompt cleanup to avoid a littering citation. The crews will collect the purple city bags from the generic trash can provided by the resident.
